project 365 and love and romance
Are you taking part in Project 365? If you’re a regular reader here, you will probably have a good old snigger at this but I’m doing P365 . You can stop laughing now. I know I failed horribly at Project 52 last year, and I think I did a month and a half of Scrap Your Day (which sounds much more impressive than it actually is because the idea is that you document the 25th of each month with a series of photos and a layout) but with week 5 of P365 under my belt, I am feeling pretty positive about the whole thing!
Every weekend I spend a good few hours cruising the galleries preparing for my turn to post on the GSO blog. I was totally fascinated with all the JYC / December Daily pages that hit the galleries towards the end of last year and then the year in review layouts and P365 books started popping up in the galleries at the start of January I just KNEW I had to try P365. The thought of having a book printed up at the end of the year is really spurring me on. I’m scrapping my pages incredibly simply (inspired by the wonderful Joey_M over at Designer Digitals) and I am not allowing myself to add any extra “stuff” to my pages in the hope that I will actually get them scrapped. Here are the first few weeks worth of double page spreads (I’m changing the background paper every week):

Simple hey?! It’s actually quite refreshing to scrap like this! Incredibly hard though, lol. I also discovered a totally unexpected bonus of doing this project – it really helps me focus on what layouts I want to make. Because I’m recording all sorts of events in my P365 book, I don’t feel the pressure to scrap them too. Which means I can make the layouts about personality traits or funny one liners without that nagging feeling that I should actually be scrapping the billion ‘events’ photos I have. It’s very liberating
Fingers crossed I manage to keep it up all year! I would love it if you would please share your P365 layouts / blogs / tips with me!

When I haven’t been stalking the kids trying to take candid photos of them (which admittedly has taken up quite a lot of my time lately) I’ve been drawing! It’s BYOC time again this week and I’ve made some romantic Valentine’s inspired doodles (20% off all weekend as usual):
Here’s some CT inspiration:

Such great pages, it’s so wonderful to see layout using my designs, it gives me warm fuzzies every time

Love the simple format you’re using for P365 — very smart! And the valentines doodles are so fun!
Love your P365 pages, Kate!! Your book at the end of the year will be amazing!
Gorgeous goodies! xxx
Kate, your pages are wonderful. I am trying P365 this year too. I hope we can have our books on the end of the year…

I forgot – here are my pages: http://www.weedsandwildflowersdesign.com/gallery/showgallery.php?cat=500&ppuser=1680
You do “clean” just as beautifully as you do… um, messy? LOL Love the layouts and the photos!
I was very inspired by the clean layouts a friend did last year, so I’m trying P365 again too. (I made it a few months before computer problems did me in last year.) My blog for it is here: http://kimp365.blogspot.com/ (Sometimes I cheat and include more than one pic. LOL) It’s a super simple contrast to my regular blog as well. LOL I haven’t gotten as far as putting the layouts together yet. I’m hoping that since I have the photos and the words already, it will go quickly.
Love the doodles! Your CT layouts are adorable!
Oh I just love these doodles as a do with all your doodles. I have a question… Ever thought about making amuzement park doodles? I guess there´s a lot of us out there with numbers of photos of our children on merry-go-rounds, eating cotton candy and going on roller-coasters. It would be great to have some fun doodles for those photos and you are the queen of doodles so at least think about it!
I love the simple style of your 365 layouts. They look great!
Last year when I started I scrapped every week in a very simple layout too – http://www.myscrapbookart.com/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=116028&ppuser=392.
But this year I have started a blog – http://www.pixelettasplace.typepad.com – and I will make it into a blurb book – http://www.blurb.com/create/book/blogbook.
My advice as an accomplished P365er is to keep it simple (and Kim’s friend LOL), keep the layouts up weekly so you don’t get overwhelmed, and don’t sweat missing a day here or there. I just filled in with a ‘generic’ photo (not related to a specific date on the calendar) from somewhere within a week of the missing date when it happened occasionally.
Here’s my finished book and there are links to the pages at the bottom of the post. I love that book! http://myscrapcorner.blogspot.com/2010/01/p365-photobook-finished-and-printed.html
I’m not necessarily trying to keep it up this year, but my camera still goes everywhere with me and pictures are taken just about every day too
Woww, I should use the simple format you’re using for your 365 project!!!! I’m not participating just because I know that I won’t be able to scrap all the pictures and I would be very frustrated!!! Love your idea!!!
Love & Romance kit is simply gorgeous!!! I’ve already bought mine!!!!
Beijinhossss!!!
